The road to the campground in Hawn State Park is blacktop and at times, very steep. The campsites are concrete and level. Sites 1 through 9 are not big rig friendly. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, and a post for a lantern. There is an amphitheater with weekend programs and a playground. 26 of the 45 sites offer 30 amp electric, the others are basic sites. There are an additional 5 sites that are for walk-in tent camping. Most of the sites are shady so if you want to use a satellite dish there are only a few that would be suitable. The campground is down in a valley so with the new digital TV stations we couldn’t get any television reception at all. We also couldn’t get a cell phone signal at the campground but driving to the top of the ridge where the dump station is located we could make cell phone calls. A few of the sites back up to the very small Pickle Creek which is great for kids to play in. There is no potable water at the dump station so you have to drive into the campground to fill your fresh water tank at one of the few water spigots spaced out amount the sites. The park has a small laundry and a pay phone available. The showers and bathrooms were clean. If you reserve a site online through the state’s website there is an charge of $8.50 per site in addition to the daily rate of $19 for electric sites.

Hinton RV Park is easily accessed from Interstate 55 and good for a basic overnight stop. The roads and the RV sites are gravel with a small green space between each site. An escort will guide you to your site. The park offers full hook ups, free Wi-Fi, and cable TV with a large selection of stations. Be sure to let the office know your desire for Wi-Fi. There is no shade in the park which should be great for satellite reception. The park had quite a few seasonal RV’ers but none look like permanent residents. The park doesn’t have a pool or a playground for kids. Trash barrels are spaced throughout the park so that you don’t have to walk far to throw away your trash. The restrooms and laundry were small but clean. Lamberts restaurant (home of the throwed rolls) is very close to the park for those with big appetites.

This campground seems to be geared more toward the older crowd. There’s no swimming pool or hot tub, there’s no playground, no campfires, no tents allowed, and dogs must be walked outside the park. The park is clean, the restrooms were spotless, and the staff friendly. As others have mentioned, the highway is close by and elevated railroad tracks are right next to the campground with many trains passing by. Although the highway traffic couldn’t be heard, our sleep was interrupted by passing trains in the night. The roads are paved and the sites are concrete and wide with a picnic table at each site. The free Wi-Fi worked well but was slow. The park’s cable TV system offered a large selection of stations and there was a phone hookup next to the cable hookup. Most of the pull through sites are long but the backin sites are short requiring you to unhitch from all but the shortest trailers. I considered our rate of $50.00 to be way overpriced for what you get.

This is a fairly new RV park and because of this there are no shade trees yet. The restrooms and laundry were very clean. The roads are paved and the sites are concrete and level with a small patio. Most of the sites are back-in but they do have a few pull-thrus. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They have a pool, hot tub, free Wi-Fi, and while they do have cable TV they only offer 15 channels. The park’s brochure shows a playground but I didn’t see one. The park is easily accessed from I-55 at exit 287. The park is right next door to an RV dealership that has an extensive parts department. This park is just one exit (2 miles) from a nice mall, lots of restaurants, and a theater. The only drawback to this park is that it is on the flight path of Memphis International Airport which is the hub for FedEx. Most of the FedEx planes leave in the middle of the night.

This RV park was closed, sold, and is now a housing development. I live 5 miles from Barnhart.

This is an excellent RV park. There is good spacing between most of the sites and the roads and sites are concrete and level. The park can handle big rigs without a problem. The bathrooms and showers were spotless. Wifi and cable are included in the cost of the site. Wifi was excellent but the picture quality of the cable TV was not the best. The owners and staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable. It’s just 10 miles to Branson but the road is a two lane and very curvy road. In this price range, this is one of the nicest parks we’ve ever stayed at.

This is an excellent COE campground on Carlyle Lake, Illinois’ largest man-made lake. Sites 75 - 97 are full hookup. Many of the sites in the campground are long enough to fit a fifth wheel, truck, and a boat. The campground is close to the marina and a restaurant. The restrooms and shower houses are clean, but there wasn’t a hot air blower or towel dispenser in the restrooms. There are grocery stores and a WalMart close by in the town of Carlyle. We used our “America the Beautiful” pass and paid $12 for a full hookup site.

The roads are narrow as are the sites and very few could accommodate a fifth wheel and the tow vehicle. We were on the back row by the berm and wifi didn’t work at that location for us at all. Because of the narrow roads, back-in sites can be difficult to negotiate. Satellite users be warned, there are lots of mature shade trees with little open sky. All the sites were narrow but each had a small strip of grass. The Laundromat was closed and locked at 8:00 PM and you had to have your last load in by 6:30 PM, we found this to be inconvenient. No swimming pool. The location of the park is very convenient to Arches National Park and Moab. We will be staying at a different park the next time we visit the area.

This park is a bargain. Paved roads, paved sites, wifi, and full hookups for $17 a night. The park is in the town of Farmington. The owner is very friendly and offers a lot of information on the area. There is gravel between the sites with a picnic table. The park is very clean. This is an excellent choice for an overnight stay in this area.

The Perryville KOA is easily accessed from I-55. The campground is clean and the bathrooms were spotless. The owners are friendly and helpful. The campground offers a very nice playground, a beautiful pool with a sun deck, a small fishing lake, two pavilions, fire rings at each site, and a mini-golf course. The free Wi-Fi worked well from our site and the campground store was well stocked. This park offers lot of shade from the mature Oak trees so you might want to call ahead if you need a site for your satellite connection. The roads are gravel as are the sites and might require some leveling. There is a short trail (50 yds.) connecting the campground to the conservation lake, and from there a 4 mile trail around the lake.

Cape Camping and RV Park is a very clean park. The roads are paved and the sites are gravel but level. The office store was meager but they did offer VHS and DVD rentals. The park has one of the most comprehensive game rooms I’ve seen, so if you have kids bring lots of quarters. The pool was clear and warm and the RV park has a very nice mini-golf course. There is also a 2 acre fishing pond (no license required). They have free WiFi and free cable TV with more channels than you normally find at many other campgrounds. There are no shade trees at the sites and the sites are somewhat narrow. I measured the width of the green space between the sites at 10 feet with an additional width of 12 feet for the pad. Easy access from I-55 and the park is located just over a mile from the interstate so highway noise was not an issue.

Some of the sites offer 50 amp service. Water is available at the few water spigots located throughout the campground. The dump station is double sided but with only one sewer dump and the potable water spigot wasn’t working the weekend we were there. The roads in the campground are paved but the sites are gravel and some require leveling. The campsites are nicely spaced and the campground has plenty of grass area and lots of shade trees. There is a separate campground for tent camping but there were more tents in the RV area than the tent campground. Sites 2-30 are reservable and the remainder are first come first served. There are two camping cabins in the campground that can be reserved too. The bathrooms and showers were clean but in need of paint. There is a nice playground for children and a picnic area also. The campground hosts were friendly and helpful. Not far from the campground is the beautiful state park lodge and restaurant. There is also a paved bike path that runs from the park to Alton, IL. For the gamblers there is a casino and OTB parlor in Alton, IL located about 20 miles from the park. This park isn’t far from the St. Louis, MO area so the campground is usually filled on weekends.

This is a very family oriented campground. During the summer months they have planned activities for the kids on weekends and the playground includes a bounce house. The park also has a small fishing pond , a mini-golf course, a small arcade, and a small swimming pool. This is a very good campground for RVers with children. The roads and sites are gravel and a host will guide you to your site. Each site had a picnic table and fire ring. I considered the side to side spacing just barely adequate and probably wouldn’t be happy if someone had a campfire that close to my rig. There are lots of mature trees that provide shade and the trees are trimmed to a height to accommodate tall rigs. Many of the sites are back ins and during crowded times the RV’s are parked back to back. During less crowded times the sites are used as pull-throughs. Highway noise from the nearby Interstate highway was very noticeable at night. The bathrooms near the office/store were very clean and while the bathrooms near the pool were clean, the fixtures were showing rust and the walls could use a fresh coat of paint. The laundromat was dingy and could use some paint too. The staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. We paid $32 a night which I thought was very pricey considering it didn’t include cable TV and you had to pay for WiFi.

Cottonwoods RV park is centrally located in MO in the city of Columbia. It’s just three miles north of Interstate 70 with easy access from U.S. highway 63. The RV park roads are paved but all of the sites are gravel. Most of the sites are pull-thru and the back-in sites, located on the last row, are usually used for seasonal campers. The longest and best pull-thrus are on the front row and are held for big rigs. The front row sites have better side to side spacing than the other sites and these big rig sites are the only ones with the chimaneas. The average site width for most of the other sites is twenty-two feet. If you have a three foot wide slide-out then you only have eleven feet left to divide on either side of your rig. Each site has a picnic table but no fire ring. The laundry, restrooms, and showers are very clean and well kept. They have a nice pool, playground, a dog walk area, and even have horseshoe pits. They also offer free wifi but it is among the slowest I’ve seen. The staff is helpful but not overly friendly. This campground is next to the fairgrounds and I’ve never stayed at the park when an event was in progress at the fairgrounds so I can’t comment about the noise. It’s quiet and good for an overnight stop.

As close as this campground is to Interstate 55, I was surprised that the highway noise was minimal. Very easy access off and on the interstate. There are a lot of mature trees in the park and the roads are gravel and narrow. The sites were close together. The bathrooms were clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. It’s is conveniently located to Memphis just a few miles from the Arkansas/Tennessee border. The free WiFi worked well. It’s a good campground for an overnight stop.

A clean campground but there’s no shade, the trees are still very short. The roads and sites are gravel and many of the sites have a slope front to back. The laundry, showers, and restrooms were very clean. There is a small playground but no swimming pool. The sites lack picnic tables and fire rings. The casino is not close. The campground is OK for an overnight stop.
